It also provides a voice to all business owners, including those who do not live in Grand Marais but who do pay commercial taxes in the City of Grand Marais.

What is the difference between the Business Council and the Chamber of Commerce?
The Chamber of Commerce does a good job sponsoring community events and managing the business loan program. However, in an effort to fairly represent their membership, the Chamber of Commerce is unable to take positions on business issues in the community.

This means that the Business Council will take positions on issues critical to business owners. The Business Council will also lobby the public and government officials, as well as support candidates.
