The Grand Marais Business Council recognizes that healthy small business is critical to the economic strength—as well as the character and charm—of Grand Marais. We are working hard to advocate for small business by building a more productive partnership between the people of Grand Marais and our government. Through open communication and action we hope to inspire an environment that enhances creativity and the spirit of entrepreneurship for our business community to the benefit of all.
Our major focus issues are consistent with the (4) major issues defined by the Grand Marais City Council in January 2007. In no particular order, they include:
- Downtown Visioning
- Safe Harbor/Marina
- Sawtooth Cottages Affordable Housing
- Community Pool
Other issues of importance, again in no particular order, include:
- Property owner rights
- Economic climate
- Jobs
- Zoning
- Business Development Park
- Ski Hill Property
- Parking
- Taxes
